Ian Herriott is an Urban Greening Designer and Garden Designer with over a decade of experience in the landscaping industry. He has designed over 150 living wall plant designs and has completed a multitude of interior & exterior soft landscaping schemes. His soft landscaping designs can be found dotted through many of central London’s public realms and throughout the UK. In 2022 he established HortDesign as an independent designer, with Garden Design and Special events as it's core business focus. In the relatively short time as an independent designer he has designed multiple gardens and special events, including international commercial green spaces in Saudi Arabia and UAE. He continues to produce living wall and urban greening designs for urban greening projects for reputable landscaping companies. He also gets involved in the installation stage of soft landscaping projects, taking guardianship over the final handover to clients.
Project inspiration comes directly from the clients ideas and aspirations, where he converts often piecemeal information into a complete concept presentation. Ian’s landscaping designs offer a distinct naturalistic flow with the plants needs served first. Ian’s journey into the industry began with a BSc. in Horticulture where he has taken a hands on approach knowledge base and applied nature to design concepts for all manner of urban greening solutions. Biodiversity is at the helm of Ian’s design process as he believes that providing forage and habitat for urban wildlife is key to bringing nature successfully into the built environment.
